Barcelona is second most populated city and is located in north-eastern Spain on the shores of the Mediterranean. It is economic, cultural and administrative capital and largest city of Catalonia. It is a major tourist destination. It has a rich traditional custom and an important cultural centre. The headquarters of the Union for the Mediterranean is located in Barcelona.
Barcelona is famous for hosting the 1992 Summer Olympics as well as it is best known for world-class conferences and shows and also for many international sport tournaments.
